Nap time

Dear world,

I usually am very alert all day until I see Mom get ready to take us to the beach. Then after the beach I take a good nap until its time to eat. But now that I know I am not going to the beach, I have a lot of time on my paws. So Rosy suggested I should nap more and she will keep me company. So that is what I decided to do. At least I can dream about the beach.

Fracture!

Dear world,

I am SO bummed. My ear was doing so well that I got to go back to the beach last week. On Friday I was jumping up and down waiting for Mom to throw my ball. I wasn't looking and I jumped back on a sand drop off and sort of tumbled over backward. I lifted my hurt paw to show Mom but then I acted like I was fine. (I knew otherwise I would have to go home.) I also got to go swimming on Saturday cause I was walking OK in the morning. But after that I couldn't disguise the pain anymore and I started to limp. So back to the vet yesterday! I have a fractured digit (a funny name for a toe). Translate to NO BEACH! actually no anything for at least two weeks until my recheck. Mom feels so bad. She is already trying to plan what to do with me to keep me and my blog readers entertained.

Sunny and Bear

Dear world,
I have been playing with this really pretty lab at the beach lately. She likes to go swimming and play ball with me. My heart flutters a little when I see her. Her name is Sunny. So that would make us Sunny and Bear. I wish I would hear her sing "I got you Babe". But instead she is singing "I got your Ball."

Hair extensions

Dear world,

The other day Rosy and Bunnybell were looking through magazines commenting on how many celebrities look so pretty with their hair extensions. So they asked Mom if they could try hair extensions. The next thing I know there they were. While Bunny loved hers, Rosy didnt really feel she needed them on her ears. So being helpful, I put one on her tail since the groomer cut off her pompom. Maybe she could partner with Jessica Simpson and start a new line of tail extensions! .

Stone Crabs

Dear world,
Mom and Dad and Sydne have this Thanksgiving tradition. Instead of having turkey and all the fixings, they have stone crabs and all its fixings. It arrives in a big box from Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach. Over the years, I have heard so much about how delicious the crabs are. So this year I actually got to taste them. At first I felt bad for the crabs but then I found out their claws grow back. Well they are very yum, every bit as good as the raves from my family. But honestly, I would prefer turkey or actually pizza if I was asked.

Love always,

Bear

PS. This year my family decided to enjoy the crabs as well as go out for Thanksgiving dinner. And they say I'm spoiled.

Black Friday

Dear world,

Last night everyone was talking about the deals on Black Friday. We heard people were waiting in line overnight to be the first customers into the stores in the morning. Well that got Rosy, Bunnybell and me to thinking. Why don't we go and wait in line at Petco? So Rosy put on her pink sweater and brought her pink bag and at 10:30 pm, we all went to Petco. We were the first in line. While Rosy was all warm and settled in for the night, Bunnybell and I missed bed and snuggling with our Moms. So we all went home and went shopping online.

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear world,
Today is Thanksgiving in the U. S. So I sat at the Canine table with my sister and niece and discussed what we have to be thankful for. We are all rescues, so we agreed we are most thankful for our wonderful forever homes. Then we each took turns. I said I am so thankful to be living back at the beach. Rosy is thankful for being totally spoiled and becoming a princess. Bunnybell is thankful to all people that drop food on the floor at the Hollywood parties she goes to. And we are all thankful for our Thanksgiving dinner. Bone Appetit.

Five Guys

Dear world,
A few weeks ago I did a post about InNOut burgers. Comments came in that I should try Five Guys. So the other day we all went to Five Guys for a taste test. Rosy and I each had a small bacon burger. I still drool when I think about it. So Mom and Dad asked me which I liked better. I just couldn't decide. I told them that it has been awhile since I had InNOut so I need to try those burgers again. Aren't I clever?

Back to the Beach!

Dear world,

I was SO excited. I FINALLY got to go to the beach yesterday ! We went during low tide cause Mom and Dad said I cant put my ear under water too much. So instead of swimming I ran and ran with two young pups for an hour (I'm the one jumping for joy in the middle!) . So now my ear feels fine, but my legs are sore. But that's OK. It was worth it!

LIVE! with Kelly

Dear world,
Last Friday was Regis Phibin's last day as co-host of LIVE! with Regis and Kelly. So now they are looking to replace him. There is a lot of speculation but it seems no decision has been made so far. They will be having lots of guest hosts to see what works. So I thought maybe I could go on as a guest host. I think Kelly and I would have good chemistry. We look good together - both golden. And we both have a Golden personality - friendly, warm, fun, smart. I could even change my name to Beargis so the new name would be an easy transition. LIVE! with Beargis and Kelly.

La Jolla

Dear world,
The other day we went to La Jolla, a beautiful town with seven miles of dramatic curving coastline . We took a walk on the bluffs seeing exactly what websites describe: peaceful bays, pounding surf, near shore tide pools, sea caves, seal rookeries, along with beautiful small beaches. My favorite part was seeing the seals on the rocks. Listening to them reminded me of Fuzz's howling bark. My least favorite part was being at the beach and not able to go swimming. Rosy's favorite part was going to a cafe in the pretty village and sharing Dad's cheeseburger.

School Pizza

Dear world,

This past week, a bill passed in U.S. Congress that says that pizza counts as a serving of vegetables for school lunches as long as it has 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce on it. Not sure I totally understand considering tomatoes are a fruit. But they are lawmakers, so I guess now tomatoes are vegetables by law. Anyway, hearing about this law got me to thinking. Maybe I should go to school. That way I could have pizza everyday! And then I could study to be a politician and make more cool laws!

Happy Birthday Mickey !

Dear world,
Mickey Mouse's birthday is celebrated today because on this date 83 years ago, he debuted in the animated cartoon Steamboat Willie. But actually, this is more like Mickey's Gotcha Day. Cause he first was seen in a test screening of Plane Crazy May 15, 1928 but the audience didn't like him. Then he was in another short - The Gallopin Gaucho, but none of the distributors wanted him. So Mickey and I have that in common. We were both rejected twice until we found our forever home. Happy Gotcha Day Mickey!

Night Shopping

Dear world,

The other day we had a new adventure. We went night shopping! One of our fave pet stores stayed open at night to have a Holiday Open House. A lab left when I was arriving, and after that it was all small dogs. All the little dogs including Rosy were wearing something cute and Xmas red from the store. I felt like I walked into Santa's workshop with little elves. Thank goodness Mom didn't see a Santa suit in my size.

A beach walk

Dear world,
It was a beautiful day so Mom thought Rosy and I would enjoy a walk on the beach. She reminded me that I cant run into the ocean and Rosy that she cant run after the birds. And off we went. So we got to the beach and walked about a mile. Then of course we had to stop for pictures. But all I could do was longingly look at the surfers and think how lucky they are to be in the ocean. And all Rosy could do was look at the birds and think how lucky they are that she cant catch them and eat them.

A sweater for Rosy

Dear world,
At the mall the other day, Rosy wanted to stop at an outside shop that had dog stuff. She was very attracted to the bags of course. Mom said no more bags. So instead she bought Rosy a sweater. Rosy asked me what she needed a sweater for. I told her I have no clue. But I told her she looks very pretty in it.

Day at the mall

Dear world,

As you know I cant go to the beach for awhile. So Mom thought that maybe I would like to go to the mall with her. I really don't know where she gets these ideas. Anyway, the whole family went together. Dad was going to wait with me and Rosy outside, but Mom scooped up Rosy and went into Bloomingdale's. Rosy tried posing with the mannequins. Then I was excited cause we were headed to the Food Court. I saw the pizza place in front of me. But much to my dismay, Mom and Rosy decided they wanted tuna sandwiches! And Dad got one too! Tuna beats out pizza again! What is it with this family?

Anipal Academy Awarads

Dear world,

This weekend has been the Anipal Academy Awards on Twitter. So I got out my Golden Tux and Rosy found a matching Golden gown . And off we went trying to not be blinded by the pupparazzi on the Red Carpet. I was excited to be nominated for Best Blog, but I didn't win. The envelope went to a wonderful http://mattiedadog.blogspot.com/. But we were so surprised and happy because Fuzz won the Rainbow Bridge Dancing Award. He must still be doing his happy dance there. Congrats Fuzz.....you forever have a star in our hearts.

Congrats to all the winners and nominees.

No beach

Dear world,

Yesterday was not a fun day. I had to go see Dr. Andy. Now don't get me wrong, I like him very much as a human. However, its not like I get to play with him. I had to get my annual shots. Ouch! And then my blabbermouth Mom told him she thought I had an ear infection. So Dr. Andy looked inside my ears. I HATE that. Yup, Mom was right. So I had to have my ears cleaned out and get ear drops. Double YUCK. And then if all that wasn't enough, I was told I cant go swimming for 5-7 days. How many ways can I say BUMMER!

Spa Day

Dear world,
Yesterday Rosy FINALLY had her spa day. As you can imagine, since she was such a messpot, she needed a lot of work. So while Rosy was in the spa mobile, it was my job to stand by to make sure everything was going OK. I asked Dad to keep me company while I was doing my job. He felt I should have belly massages since my role was so stressful. Then when Rosy was done, I was in charge of inspecting her. She looked and smelled like a poodle again so I gave my stamp of apoodle.

1 Topping Per 1000

Dear world,

A few days ago I reached 3000 followers on twitter. My Mom had promised when I reached that milestone she would order a pizza with three toppings - 1 topping per thousand. And I got to choose the toppings! After much deliberation I decided on sausage and bacon and chose chicken for Rosy. While we had to share it with Dad, I asked for and got 1 slice per 1000! Now I need to come up with another milestone pizza goal.

A leopard

Dear world.
The other day I was laying on my Mom's faux leopard blanket and it got me to thinking. What would it be like to be a leopard? Well, they are elusive, solitary and nocturnal. So I wouldn't like that since I like to be around people, get lots of attention and sleep at night . But like a leopard, I do hunt - that is I hunt tennis balls. But leopards live in wild very far away places. I wouldn't like that. I like to live at home with Mom, Dad and Rosy. But if I had leopard spots I would look quite fashionable, don't ya think?

Buddy

Dear world,
I would like to introduce you to my neighbor and buddy, Buddy. He is a really cool dog, and sometimes he plays ball with me. He used to come into our house to get treats but now Rosy won't let him. So he stays by the door and smiles. Then my Mom goes to my treat cabinet and takes out one treat and gives it to Buddy. That is when he becomes Mom's buddy Buddy.

Tuna, Pupcakes and Bags

Dear world,

Rosy had a great Gotcha day party. She was given a choice of what she wanted to eat. I gave her the pizza menu but she said she wanted a tuna sandwich. Huh? Then she got into her new fairy princess outfit for pupcakes and presents. She was so full from her tuna that I got her pupcake after she ate some icing. Score! She got a few different toys but her fave presents were the two bags. First she opened my pink bag present. She loved it and got right inside. That made me very happy. Then she opened the navy bag with red accents. She stayed inside it in her fairy princess dress until it was time to go upstairs to go to sleep. She is just such a bag lady!

Rosy's Gotcha Day!

Dear world,
Today is Rosy's Gotcha Day! She is a bit annoyed at me for posting her picture before her hairstyling appointment on Tuesday. She hasn't been able to be groomed cause of her surgery, but I think she looks cute as a messpot. She looks almost the same as when Mom found her a year ago . Boy has her life changed since then! From abandoned on the streets of Memphis to Super Princess status on the beaches of San Diego! Yah, you are probably thinking she is really lucky. But my Mom and Dad and I think we're pretty lucky too. We can't remember what our family was like before Rosy ruled the roost.

Bury the rock

Dear world,

When I went to the beach the other day there were no dogs to play with. There was one dog there named Koa, but he had no interest in swimming. He was too busy digging holes in the sand. He must have dug a dozen holes (some washed away). I asked Koa what he was doing. He said he needed to find the perfect hole to bury his rock. Then he went back to digging. I guess to each his own. (but dont ya think that's a bit weird?)

Double Double

Dear world,
The other day Mom came home with an InNOut bag ! Yay! And then there they were - two DoubleDoubles- one for me and one for Rosy (as an aside, I don't quite get why Rosy gets the same amount as me although she is only about 15% of my size). Anyway, for those of you that have never had an InNOut burger - imagine the most perfect double cheese burger ever. I heard someone say I should try FiveGuys . So we are trying those soon! Stay tuned for the taste test!

Smoochie Poochie

Dear world,
When I was at the Howloween Carnival I was walking along and heard a bark. I turned around and it was this beautiful boxer on a table in a booth. She asked me if I wanted a kiss. I said of course and leaned over to get it. She said it would cost a dollar. I told her I didn't have a dollar. She said no dollar, no kiss. Well, I walked away of course. I'm surprised they let dogs of her kind at a nice family event.

A present for Rosy

Dear world,

The other day at the Halloween carnival there were a lot of booths selling treats and toys. But Rosy demonstrated her obsession and took a beeline for the booth selling dog bags! First she found a beautiful pink one that she loved. Then she discovered the stroller and she went right in. She really wanted the stroller but I couldn't afford it. So I got her the pink bag for her gotcha day coming up this Sunday. Shhh. Its a surprise.

Best in Show

Dear world,
On Sunday we all went to the Ocean Beach Howloween Canine Carnival. We were there for hours, looking at the booths, meeting other dogs and napping. There was a pet costume parade and contest with almost 100 entrants! Rosy shook her costume off right before it was her turn to show off. I guess she doesn't like the limelight. But when it was my turn to walk in front of the audience and judges, I walked slowly, posed, walked a little more, posed , walked a bit more and then posed. Everyone was taking pictures and clapping! I discovered that I love applause! And yes! I won a best in show trophy! My dad said next year I should go as a ham.
