I see you Mom!

Dear world,
Mom came back yesterday. I was SO excited. I told her I was so happy to see her. And then she took something out of her suitcase. She said these will help me see her even better. And from the suitcase to my nose, a giant pair of glasses. Now I am not sure they help me see better, but it did make me see Mom smiling SO big when I put them on. So that made me very happy. Welcome home Mom!

Back to work

Dear world,
The other day I told you that Mom gave me an assigment to think of new blog posts while she is away. I know I was supposed to wait until Mom came back to publish my ideas. However, I didn't want to miss Bridget's birthday, so I got the blog posted on my own yesterday. Well now I am back to work on my assigment. Its hard to concentrate though because I keep thinking how much I miss my Mom. Dad calls me Mama's Boy. Well yah! He's Mama's Man. I wonder if he got an assignment too.

Happy Birthday Bridget

Dear world,
Today is my sis' Bridget's birthday. I don't get to see her too often, but I love being with her. She's real nice. She's Drew's and Caroline's mom. She looks a lot like my Dad. And as I posted in June, I resemble Dad, especially around the eyes. So that must mean I look like Bridget too! I think the resemblance is in the eyes again. Wow, I must be real good looking if I look like Bridget! Happy Birthday Sis!

An assignment

Dear world,
Mom left me and Fuzz. Can you believe it? She's not coming back for another week. Ugh! She gave me an assignment while she is away. She said I need to come up with ideas for my blog posts. I also need to help Fuzz come up with FuzzBuzz ideas. And when she comes back, she will help me publish them. She suggested I might want to brainstorm ideas with Fuzz. Brainstorm? Sounds a bit weird. Of course, I am happy to take ideas from my blog readers.

New Design Star

Dear world,
My Mom loves this show called Design Star on HGTV. On one of the episodes I saw, the designers had to re-purpose furniture. So when I saw a picture of my niece BunnyBell the other day it got me to thinking that she should apply to be on the next Design Star. She took a nightstand and re-purposed it into a bed for herself. How clever! And she is also very artistic. I remember when she walked into the fireplace and then jumped and nested on my Mom's white couch. It made such an interesting pattern. A whole new look for the couch. Yes, she should apply.

Brain stimulation

Dear world,
Did you ever think if you focus in on something really hard that you could actually make it happen. Well, I sort of think about that a lot. I stare at my ball and think what I can do to make it throw itself. Sort of like a Ouija board. Something makes that thing move. So maybe one day my ball will. I tried hard with it the other day, but it didn't happen. But I won't give up on my ball. It may seem seem silly, but at least it is a good activity to keep my brain stimulated when I am bored.

FuzzBuzz: Hollywood Fuzz

Dear world,
Bear dressed up to go to a Hollywood party, so I did as well. Bear looked so cool. I said OK to the black shirt cause it was soft and cool, and I knew Mom was going to win. I did not want to wear a jacket, I won that battle. I put the shades on for a cookie. Didn't love those either. The tie was OK cause it was like a collar. So now that I am dressed, do you think Bear would take me to Hollywood with him?

Hollywood Bear

Dear world,
A few weeks ago I went to a twitter pawpawty. This one was for Holllywood types. So I came up with this outfit. Pretty cool. My sis who lives in West Hollywood , said I looked total Hollywood. So, I would assume that means I look like someone in the biz. A producer, director, actor? So it got me to thinking. Maybe I should go to Hollywood. I could go to a corner drugstore in this garb and maybe be discovered. Or maybe they would think I am already in the biz and I would be invited to parties. The Playboy Mansion perhaps? I would love to see PlayDog Bunnies.

Inspired by a Springer

Dear world,
As you know, I am more of a ball dog than a stick dog . But every now and then there comes along a stick high up on the fetch appeal. The other day, I was rolling in some random grass. Then I saw Mom pick up this giant stick and throw it. I had seen a picture of Ducky the Springer retrieve a giant stick. The visual of that inspired me. If a Springer Spaniel can do it, a Golden Retriever certainly can. So off I went to retrieve the stick and bring it back to Mom. Way cool. I still prefer tennis balls though.
P.S. You can see Ducky at http://thejoyfulspringer.com/

How embarrassing!

Dear world
When I have a bit of an upset stomach, I often make a mess of myself. I get very embarrassed and want to come home immediately to wash off. So Mom thinks she can help me. And I know I should really hide when she takes out the scissors. She must have this aspiration to be a hairstylist. Well its good that she never followed that dream, cause I don't even think she would make it as a groomer! All she has to do is cut a bit of my fur. But no, she has to give me butt bangs. Doesn't Mom realize that dogs greet each other from the back as well as front! Talk about embarrassing!

The Opener

Dear world,
Mom and I love to watch the TV show The Closer. Kyra Sedgwick is really good as the Deputy Chief and she is the Closer. So I was thinking, if there is a Closer, isn't there a need for an Opener? I thought maybe I could be her Assistant Deputy and open cases for her. And Deputy Brenda has really pretty long golden hair, so it only makes sense that her Assistant Deputy would have pretty long golden fur. Yes. Assistant Deputy Bear: The Opener. Maybe next season?

Pawdicure

Dear world,
I hate getting my nails cut. I get really scared. I wouldn't let a groomer do it.Then Mom took me to the vet. It took the vet and 4 technicians and after I peed on the floor, they finally convinced me it was ok after 45 minutes. So now Mom handles it with PediPaws. I don't like it either. It feels SO weird. Mom says I should just think of it like a nice manicure, except its a pawdicure. Yah right. Well, thankfully she doesn't paint my nails.

Change of Address

Dear world,
Everyday I walk to the mailbox with my Mom. She always pulls out different letters and magazines, but there is never anything for me. It got me to wondering. Did I send any announcements or fill out change of address cards when I moved? Oh no! I don't think I did. That must be why I haven't received any mail. I need to do that immediately and tell my friends and family my new address. My birthday is coming up and I want to make sure everyone knows where to send cards and presents to. Oh and, in case you want to know, my birthday is September 28th.

FuzzBuzz: The Fuzzinator

Dear world,
Yesterday my Mom took out this yellow thing that looked sort of like a brush but more like a comb. Bear said uh oh, its the Furminator and dashed into the other room. I thought huh? So Mom came over to me and started brushing me with it. It felt a bit weird, but not so bad. And then I watched as she took clump after clump of my fur off of it and put it in a plastic bag. I thought, maybe she is slowly shaving me? She told me it would help me not shed so much. Well, if it is going to be used on me, I think it should be called a Fuzzinator, dont you?

American Idol

Dear world,
I heard that Fox has been looking for new judges for American Idol. That got me to thinking. What if Bunnybell and I were the new judges? Randy could show us the ropes. We could show how we feel about the contestants and songs by growling or barking. And of course we could use different pitches and volumes in our voice so that it would be clear what we think. And then we could just do paws up or down. Fox would get a great deal with us. We are not very demanding. Tennis balls and cookies. Would you tune in?

FuzzBuzz: Re-check

Dear world,
Mom took me to the Vet yesterday for a recheck on my toe. My vet is so much fun. I get to meet other dogs like Arlo the Basset Hound who wouldn't let them cut his nails. He was insistent and he won. Then there is Mr. Fish who always swims up to look me in the eye. And the talking bird who has arguments with me. Anyway, I got good news and bad news. Good: My toe is better so I don't have to wear the stupid bandage. Bad: I still can't do my walks for another three weeks. Well, with a heat index over 100 everyday, I guess that it not really bad news.

Pearl update

Dear world,
Back in April, I wrote about Pearl, my black lab neighbor who was not very nice. Well since then, we have peered at eachother through the fence occasionally. When my mom sees or hears her, she calls out her name in a really sweet voice. So yesterday, we walked by her house and my mom called her over. I went over too. She was really nice! And I never realized how pretty she is! Hmmmm. Maybe I should ask her out on a date? Maybe she will end up being my girl Pearl.

Shark Yourself!

Dear world,
Last week was Shark Week. I assume it was the week I was supposed to learn about sharks. So I went to Discovery.com for my shark education and they told me to Shark myself! Cool! They have all sorts of information about sharks which is very interesting (and a little scary). If I ever go back to San Diego and swim in the ocean I will be prepared. Happy belated Shark Week!

Weather Report

Dear world,
It gets really boring to hear that the weather is going to be very hot. So I thought it would be more interesting to offer different terms to express how I really feel about the weather. This is what I came up with. I can say dreadfully, frightfully, ghastly, grossly, horrendously, and maybe beastly hot. But when I feel stronger about it I may use monstrously, barbarically, savagely, and vampirely (is that a word?). I can't wait until I can say it is pleasantly warm. And when does that happen in Memphis?

Lap Dog Bear

Dear world,
Mom always says she wishes she could pick me up and hold me. Which got me to thinking it would be nice sometimes if I could be the size of a lap dog. So I thought about it some more. If I was a small dog, what type of dog would I be? I considered a bunch and narrowed it down to six. Mom thinks I look cutest as a Shihtzu. But I don't think I could handle the hairdo. I think I like me as a Westie best. What do you think? 1) Pomeranian 2) Papillion 3) Dachsund 4) Yorkie 5) Westie or 6) Shihtzu ?

FuzzBuzz: A new blanket

Dear world,
There are definitely some benefits to breaking one's toe. As Bear posted, I get additional and super cool treats. I get new toys. And yesterday, UPS came to the door and in the box a present arrived for me. A new Scooby Doo blanket! Mom felt since I was going to have to rest more, I should have something fun to rest on. I know she means well, so I won't tell her that I like my old worn in blanket better. Anyway, Bear told me that this new blanket is great for pictures, so to make Mom happy, I will lay on it and smile.

Outside activity

Dear world,
I typically love spending time outdoors. Nothing usually stops me from playing fetch with my tennis ball. But have you ever felt a heat index of over 110 degrees? One fetch and I'm done. Then there is the pool. Well, it is like one giant hot tub without the jets. Its gotta be like 90 degrees. So I won't go swimming. I decided the only thing to do outside in this heat is to paw the door open and get inside.

Income opportunity

Dear world,
I know they want to do away with them, but plastic bags from retail stores are quite functional at our house. Mom used to buy poop bags, but now she just uses Kroger bags (that's the supermarket). And now that Fuzz has a bandaged broken toe, she uses bags to protect his foot so it won't get wet. Since Target bags are thicker, she mostly uses and reuses those. So when I saw Fuzz walking around with a Target bag on his foot it got me to thinking. Maybe this could be an advertising revenue opportunity. Fuzz could be a limping billboard for Target! Maybe other stores would be interested as well. Hmmm. I wonder how much he could charge.

Toe treats

Dear world,
The other day, Fuzz buzzed about his newly broken toe. Yes, I do feel bad for him and miss him very much on our walks. However, I do have a little bit of an issue. Mom went out and bought a whole bunch of new treats. So now, every time I go out for a walk, Fuzzy gets one of these treats. The longer we will be out, the bigger the treat like those curly ones. Well, don't get me wrong. I'm very happy for Fuzz. But what about me? Mom says I get treats too, just not when we go for a walk. So it got me to thinking. Maybe I will stay home sometimes and let Mom go for a long walk herself. That way, I can get some of those curly treats.

Dog AND Cat treat truck

Dear world,
Last Sunday I blogged about a treat truck. I got a very good response. However, the biggest objection was that it was dedicated to dogs and did not consider cats. I originally conceived of the truck being available as dogs were on their walks. However, now I am expanding the business to include home delivery. And therefore, I have also expanded the product line to include wonderful cat treats. I have renamed the truck Mr. PupCat Treat. And now Fuzz can participate in the venture as he will be the one to take the home delivery orders. I have already received franchise requests. I will let everyone know when they are available.

FuzzBuzz: Another Broken Toe

Dear world,
Everything was going so well. I was going on great long walks, wrestling with Dad and I even conquered the stairs. Then the other day I ran to say hello to these two dogs and I felt an "ouch" on my toe. I tried to ignore it, but it wouldn't go away. My mom noticed and took me to the vet. Yup. I have another broken toe. Same foot, but not the same toe as in May. So I have to wear this stupid thing on my foot and Mom said I can't go on walks for awhile. I am very sad. Bear feels bad for me, but he said at least I will probably get lots of toys and treats for it. OK. I'm waiting.
Forever,
Fuzzy
