BearPad Please

Dear world,
I really love to blog. I just hate being dependent on someone for my typing. Computers are so not dog friendly. I can't believe Steve Jobs has not yet recognized the need for a dog computer...or at least a dog key pad. I know Apple has the Ipad...but it is not for "I". Way too small. Maybe someone else can be out of the human box innovative. Don't you think there is a huge opportunity...can you invent a DogPad? Better yet...a BearPad?
Love always,

Beach thoughts: Moonscape

Dear world,
The beach was so weird today. Instead of sand, there was all of this rock. My mom said it looked like a moonscape. I guess she has seen a moonscape in a photo, because I don't think she has been there. That got me to thinking, I wonder what the moon is really like. Does it look like this? Does it have oceans? Does it have a lot of leash free dog beaches? Maybe I should become an astronaut and moonwalk.

All dogs count!

Dear world,
On the news channels they announced 2009 most popular dogs. I asked my Mom how they figured that out...do they count every single dog? She told me it is based on American Kennel Club registrations. Then I thought about it. That is so not fair. If you were to poll every family that had a dog, I would bet that list would be quite different. First of all, I bet Mixed Breed would be the most popular. In fact, I am thinking of the dogs I know, and actually, most of them would not have been counted in this popularity contest. I wouldn't have because while a golden retriever, I am a rescue.
So I think that someone should take a scientifically correct poll of the most popular dogs in America. (or just add a question to the Census!)
My mom's background is research, can you tell?

What kind of a retriever am I?

Dear world,
Today at the park there was this large brown bird standing alone. Sometimes he would stand on one leg. He was doing all sorts of funny motions. Then he just started staring out and standing still for the longest time. I assume he was doing yoga.
Anyway, I usually couldn't care less about birds. But at that moment, I felt these weird urges inside of me. I felt like I was supposed to chase it. I really didn't want to, but it was like there was this voice inside of me saying "you are a retriever!" I know some retrievers are hunters, but not me. YUCK! So I just kept watching it and then it flew closer to me and stood and looked at me. I got bored and looked away. I am a tennis ball retriever. Let birds live and enjoy. My mom just wishes they would stop pooping on her car.

Practice does not make perfect

Dear world,
It happened again today. We take our daily walk down a path so that I can do my morning constitutional. I pretty much go in the same spot everyday which is near the garbage pail. My mom scoops up my poop in the green biodegradable bag, ties the knot and then walks about 5 feet from the garbage pail. Then she proceeds to try to throw the bag into the pail. I would say that 8 out of 10 times she misses. My mom thinks I am not looking. But I always look. I find it fascinating that no matter how many times she tries, it is rare that she gets the basket. But when she does get the bag in, she gets so excited...and I love seeing my Mom happy. But you have got to admit, she is a bit weird.

The Bachelor

Dear world,
Since it was Monday night, I knew which show I would have to watch. The Bachelor. My mom is obsessed. So it got me to thinking, why not the The Bachedog or maybe The Dogelor or just the boring name The Dog Bachelor. (not sure why I always need to transfer words into dog. I think my mom has something to do with that.) Anyway, I would love to meet 25 Doglerettes...that word is good. I would get to live in a big mansion and be chauffeured over to another big mansion and play with the girls. And since we are dogs, no one could be cast as the bitch, since they are all bitches! Just think...instead of the hot tub scenes, I could go in the pool and we could all swim.
And of course, instead of giving out roses, I would give out dog bones.
Now, wouldn't you watch that show?

Bear

What am I thinking?

Dear World,
I had a great day today. I love these kind of days. Mom takes me to the beach. I chase and retrieve my tennis ball in the waves. Then what after seems about 5 minutes (my mom tells me it has been 45), we do what she likes. We take a walk on the beach about a mile to a park overlooking the ocean. She picks the bench and we sit on it and gaze out onto the water. Not sure what she thinks about. A lot of time she asks me what I am thinking about. So I guess she is thinking about what I am thinking about while I think about what she thinks about. Seems a bit silly. I wish I could just talk sometimes.

Bear the Blogger

Dear world,
No, I am not a blogging addict. Yes, I already have two other blogs, but they are photo blogs. One called Bear Wear Daily (http://www.bearweardaily.com/) which I did to amuse my mother. Plus when she takes all those pics of me I do feel like a movie star. I wonder if that is what Air Bud feels like. But I don't think I would like being a movie star. Then everyone would be following me around and assume that everyone I sniff or chase after I am going out with. Just look at what they do to Jennifer Anniston! Gosh, that must be annoying. No, so I wont be a movie star. Like I had a choice.
The other blog is called The Dogorialist (http://thedogorialist.blogspot.com/). That I co-blog(is that a word?) with my niece Bunny. Her Mommy sort of convinced Bunny that she needed to do that. And Bunny worships her Mommy. Not sure how I got wrangled into it, but it is interesting and fun.
So now, here I am with a writing blog. For pics, you can go to my other blogs...but I think I will post some on this one too. After all, reading gets a tad boring, if there are no illustrations. Right?

Home of the Bear

Dear world,
While on my walk this morning, I had so many thoughts that I wanted to share. I can't really twitter all those thoughts, because it is not twitterly correct. So here I am starting a blog.
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Bear. I am often called BearBear. Sometimes BaBear. And them some people address me by singing "BaBaBaBear" (hence my gmail address).
Right now I live in San Diego, CA. It is a very cool place. I live near Dog Beach. Yes, it is off leash most of the year. But since human tourists take over the beach in the summer, it is on leash from June 15-Labor Day. But that won't matter to me this year, because I am moving to Memphis in the Spring. I have never been there, but I will be with my Mommy and Daddy so I know it will be ok. Someone told me that Memphis is home of the blues. I don't know what that means, but soon Memphis will be Home of the Bear.
Love always,
Bear
