BEACH !

Dear world,
Mom made me a promise when I came home from the hospital. She said as soon as I am feeling better and doc says OK, she will take me and my ball to the beach.  So I could hardly believe my ears when she said “Do you want to go to the beach?” I couldn’t walk fast enough (actually, Mom couldn’t walk fast enough).  I only got to swim for 20 minutes rather than my usual hour. But those were the best 20 minutes ever.  I cant wait to go again.

Smashing gift

Dear world,
Wow! My sisters Rosy and Annie really surprised me with their get well present for me. They got me gift cards to Smashburger ! YUM! Of course I wonder if they thought this may mean Smash Fidoburgers in their future too. Ya think?

Memorial Weekend Picnic

Dear world,
It is Memorial Day weekend, so we felt that called for a picnic. So the whole family jumped into the car and went to SeaGrove park. Rosy insisted on everyone wearing their holiday garb. Luckily it was a bit too breezy to wear our hats. Dad said I can choose the picnic fare, so you know what that meant. So Dad walked up to Del Mar pizza and became our delivery man.

First Outing

Dear world,
Yesterday I got to go on my first outing since I got sick. And guess where I asked to go? Of course, the beach! I knew I wasn't going to be able to go swimming yet, but I wanted to visit my ocean since I miss it so much. While I didn't get to taste the ocean today, just the smell of it made me feel better. I just love the beach, don't you?

Kemo ?

Dear world,
My Mom told me that today I will be going to the doctor for my first chemo day. I had no idea what chemo meant. The only chemo I ever heard of was Kemo Sabe. So I thought maybe I am supposed to dress up as the Lone Ranger and everyone will call me Kemo Sabe or Kemo for short. I felt pretty silly when Mom explained to me what it was.  But then again, she had a Saab once she named Kemo Sabe, so you can understand where some of my thinking comes from.

Get Well Delivery

Dear world,
When you think about what to send someone when they are sick, you would typically think of flowers or balloons or maybe a fruit basket. But my family in Chicago knew just what to send me... PIZZA! Don't I have the most awesome family ?

Turkey Tails

Dear world,
Mom told me that she is going to get me Turkey Tail to eat. I thought that sounded really weird but it got me to thinking....  Do turkeys really have tails? Do they wag their tails when they are happy? What makes turkeys happy? So I posed these questions to Mom and showed her that my toy turkey doesn't even have a tail. She explained that Turkey Tails are a type of mushroom that may be good for my sickness. Oh. Well I still would like to know the answers to my turkey questions.  Its Google time (as opposed to Gobble time) HaHaHa!

Bucket List

Dear world,
So my test results came back and I didn’t do so good. The diagnosis made Mom and Dad real sad. But Mom told me to start thinking about all the things I want to do so we can do them once the doc says I can play again. And since I am on an unrestricted diet, Mom said to tell her all the things I want to eat. So of course, the first thing on my list was pizza! And not just any pizza – a bacon pizza !

A Gift for Mom

Dear world,
For Mother’s Day I wanted to get Mom something that would always make her think of me. So when I saw this painting by Tom Mosser, I just had to order a print. Even though Tom used his boy Lucas as a model, I think it looks just like me. And the tennis ball looks exactly like mine! Mom said yesterday that her Mother’s Day gift is just having me at home with her. But I know this gift will always make her smile, even if I am not around. And I love making Mom smile.
Happy Mother’s Day to Mom’s everywhere.

Home from the Hospital

Dear world,
As some of you may know, I had to have emergency surgery on Tuesday. Something about blood in my belly. I don’t remember anything about the operation other than having some really cool dreams.  But Mom told me they took my spleen out, (whatever that is) and pieces of my liver. They said there were funny looking things on those parts that they need to do tests on.  So I spent a couple of days in this weird glass room with wires on my legs and nice pretty ladies visiting me a lot. Yesterday afternoon I was so excited when Mom and Dad picked me up and brought me home. Rosy and Annie and Bunnybell were so glad to see me. It was so good to settle back into my bed and be with my family. There is no place like home.

PS. My test results come back next week.  We are all keeping our paws crossed for good results!

Pirates of the Pacific

Dear world.
On our beach walks, Rosy and I always leisurely stroll along the waters edge enjoying the scenery. But Annie is always intently sniffing the sand and frantically exploring around the rocks. I finally asked her why. Annie said she is looking for buried treasure. That got me to thinking ... a few years ago, Fuzz and I were Pirates of the Mississippi. So now the girls and I can be Pirates of the Pacific! We could all follow Pirate Annie in search of buried treasure. Rosy of course will insist on keeping the jewels.

Cinco de Mayo

Dear world,
I always hear about so many fun events going on for Cinco de Mayo. But I am never allowed to go since I am not old enough to drink and I am of the canine species. So this year I thought maybe I could disguise myself and join in the festivities. Do ya think if I put on a jacket I could pass for a legal drinking age hairy human?

Rooting for Rosie

Dear world,
Last week we watched Rosie Napravnik on 60 Minutes and learned about a very successful, special jockey and inspirational woman. So this past week, all my sis Rosy has been talking about is what it would be like for a Rosy to win the upcoming Kentucky Derby.  I told Annie that Rosie’s full name is actually Anna Rose and wondered whether that would inspire her too. But Annie said she would rather chase a horse than ride one. She is such a dog.

Leis and Ukuleles

Dear world,
As they say in Hawaii, Lei Day is May Day ! It is the day that the giving and receiving of Leis is celebrated. So since we are always open to celebrations around the world Mom gave each of us leis to wear. Rosy was so into it, she even wore a grass skirt. I brought along my ukulele since it is Ukulele Day tomorrow! Two celebration days covered in one photo, isn't that clever of me?
Aloha!
